Jamie Carragher was born on January 28, 1978, in Liverpool, England. He joined the Reds as a 10-year-old, eventually making his first-team debut nine years later against Middlesbrough in the League Cup semi-final.

On 28 April, 1999, Carragher came on as a substitute against Hungary to make his full England debut. He went on to win 38 caps.

During a long and illustrious career with Liverpool, the defender won two FA Cups, three League Cups, one Champions League, one UEFA Cup, and two UEFA Super Cups.

Carragher was voted Liverpool’s Player of the Year three times during his career, in 1999, 2005 and 2007. No Liverpool player has made more appearances for the club in European competition than Carragher, who played 150 times.

On March 9, 2013, Carragher became only the second Premier League player – after Ryan Giggs – to make 500 league appearances for one club. The central defender is second on the all-time appearance list for Liverpool, behind Ian Callaghan.

The one-club legend played his 737th and final game for Liverpool in a 1-0 win over QPR on May 19, 2013. Before the match, he was given a guard of honour by both teams and presented with a commemorative trophy.
