Thomas Hearns was born on October 18, 1958 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Nicknamed the "Motor City Cobra" and more famously "The Hitman," Hearns was the first boxer ever to win world titles in four divisions, and also the first to win five world titles in five different divisions.
The Hitman was named fighter of the year by The Ring magazine in 1980 and 1984.
He enjoyed fierce rivalries with Sugar Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler, which produced classic fights that have gone down in boxing history.
