Steven McManaman was born on 11th February 1972 in Bootle, Lancashire, England.

During his nine years at Liverpool (between 1990–1999), Steve McManaman won the FA Cup and League Cup. Steve scored twice in the League Cup final against Bolton Wanderers, his performance so dominant that the fans named it "The McManaman Final".

McManaman made 364 appearances and scored 66 goals for Liverpool. He was the Premier League's top assist provider for the 1995–96 season and was named in the PFA Team of the Year for the 1996–97 season.

McManaman joined Real Madrid in July 1999, becoming the first-ever player from the Premier League to move to play for Madrid.

McManaman played for the La Liga legends between 1999–2003, winning two Champions League titles, two La Liga titles, the Super Cup and Supercopa de España.

McManaman represented England between 1994–2001, making 37 appearances and scoring 3 goals. Steve represented his country at Euro 1996, 1998 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2000. He was a key player in Euro 96, where he was considered one of the tournament's best performers.
