Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was born on February 26, 1973 in Kristiansund, Møre og Romsdal, Norway. He began his career at Clausenengen in 1990, before moving to Molde in 1994. In 1996 Sir Alex Ferguson paid £1.5 million to bring him to Manchester United.

He played 366 times for Man United, scoring 126 goals. He was known as a super-sub due to his habit of coming off the bench to score vital goals. One of his most impressive feats was coming off the bench to score four goals in the last 12 minutes of United's 8-1 thrashing of Nottingham Forest.

Solskjaer's most famous moment was when he came on as substitute during the 1999 Champions League final against Bayern Munich to score the winner. United had been one-nil down with only seconds of full time remaining when Teddy Sheringham equalised. With the match seemingly going into extra time, Solskjaer stuck out a leg to fire a David Beckham corner into the roof of the net.

The United fans still sing his praises in a song that has immortalised that goal, "Who put the ball in the Germans' net?" The goal also sealed a famous and unique treble of Champions League, Premiership and FA Cup for Man United.

Solskjaer was nicknamed "The Baby Faced Assassin" because of youthful looks and deadly finishing.

Solskjaer played for Norway in the 1998 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2000. He collected a total of 67 international caps, scoring 23 times. He formed a feared partnership with international team mate and ex Chelsea striker Tore Andre Flo which was seen as one of the best striking partnerships in Norway's history.

In December 2018, Manchester United appointed Solskjaer as manager for the remainder of the 2018-19 season to replace Jose Mourinho.
