Jota began his career with Paços de Ferreira, before signing for La Liga club Atlético Madrid in 2016.
Whilst first on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Jota helped the club gain promotion to the Premier League. He subsequently joined the club permanently in 2018. He scored 33 goals during 111 games for the club.
Jota signed for Liverpool in September 2020 after impressing at Wolves.
He scored on his Premier League debut for the club, with the third goal in a 3–1 win against Arsenal at Anfield.
Diogo played a pivotal role in Liverpool's League Cup win in 2022. He scored both goal in the semi-final and converted during the penalty shoot-out during the final against Chelsea.
Jota has represented Portugal at the 2019 National League Finals, EURO 2020 and is set to play a role during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
