Jimmy Montgomery BEM was born on 9 October 1943 in England.
Jim joined his hometown club Sunderland in 1960. He made a record 627 appearances for the club with 537 of these appearances being in the league.
Jim was part of the 1973 Sunderland squad that won the FA Cup against Leeds. His most memorable contribution in that match was a double save which prevented Leeds from equalising. This is considered by many to be the greatest double save ever.
Jim also spent time at Southampton, Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest during his career.
