Trevor John Francis was born on April 19, 1954 in Plymouth, England.
In the course of a distinguished 23-year career he represented several teams, including Birmingham City, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, Sampdoria, Atalanta, Rangers, Queens Park Rangers and Sheffield Wednesday.
He was England's first £1 million player when he moved from Birmingham to Nottingham Forest.
His greatest achievement was scoring the winning goal in the 1979 European Cup final for Nottingham Forest against Malmo.
He also played for England 52 times, scoring 12 goals.
Former England manager Fabio Capello considered Francis the best English player ever to have played in Serie A.
